How much does it cost?: In most cases creating high-quality video content can cost much less than you might think. We can create quality effective-message videos with motion graphics, great images and professional look that are built correctly, optimized for the web (the right size, image quality and smooth playback) for less than $500.

Similar works for television such as a 30-second commercial can be done for under $1,000. TV or web commercials with location or studio filming, green screen effects and much more can be accomplished for as little as $1,500.

Significant value can be realized for projects that have some long-form (several minutes) content - with a well-designed production plan that captures ample footage intended for use in multiple formats and outlets. For example, we can create a business profile video or trade show video that tells a rich full story. With this material, we can then create a shorter version for the web and a 30-second spot for use on television or the web and the cost comes way down. Let us show you how resourceful we can be on a budget. You'd be surprised what we can do for $2,000 - $3,000.

When it comes to larger projects like television shows, documentaries, film projects or creating comprehensive business assets, Indiefair's planing effectiveness and cost-transparancy, save our clients thousands. Price and budgeting confidence is something we appreciate.

How is the price determined?: We believe it's important for you to know what you're paying for. Indiefair employs a transparent pricing model that is logical and reasonable. The cost is for actual labor and materials only - that's it. We own our equipment, saving thousands in rental charges. We also have our own studio production facility. This generally delivers a price that is less than half that charged in neighboring markets. We break the process and the cost detail down into three basic categories; Production, Post-Production and Materials. We provide the Indiefair Promise and Not-To-Exceed price.

Production Organizing, filming / shooting video, recording voice-over, gathering images. These are essentially the steps in creating the raw footage, images or content that will be used to build the video. Our plan will include detail for production.
Post-Production Managing the footage/data, editing, graphics, effects, animation, music and sound, color correction, encoding/formatting for specific uses, output to media, upload to broadcast outlet and/or the web, backup and storage. These are the steps to completing the video and making it ready for use. Our plan will include detail for post-production.
Materials The things that are not production or post-production. Materials can be items such as props, paid actors, pre-recorded footage or images where licenses are purchased. Our plan will include a list items and an experienced estimate of cost. Indiefair's policy is that these items are always at actual cost (no markup).
Indiefair Promise & Not-To-Exceed Price Before any work begins, the pricing for production and post-production are established and the price is capped at our Not-To-Exceed amount. Materials are always included at the actual cost. When the project is complete, if the final production and post-production cost is lower, you pay the smaller amount. If it's higher, you are not charged.

Progressive download or streaming video?: These are essentially the two ways video gets delivered over the web. We can provide either or both. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. For example, streaming works nicely in most cases and is easier and sometimes faster to view but many IT network firewalls ruin the effectiveness of streaming or disable it entirely. If we want to reach a business audience, we may want to choose progressive download. Sometimes it makes sense to do both in two different places. It wasn't long ago that video on the web was sketchy - quaility was low and it was constantly hampered by pauses and jumpy playback. Right now, there are ways to get the most out of web delivery. An intelligent bitrate approach and the right encoding makes a tremendous difference. Indiefair provides expertise in this area. It's part of what we do. We like to take responsibility for hosting. It helps our clients look good and get results.

Where did the name Indiefair come from?:Indie is a term generally used to refer to independent artists and their art. Indie Films and Indie Music are essentially categories of art. It is suggested that Indie artists find their primary motivation in the work itself. Independent artists are resourceful and committed to a strong creative vision. We find those attributes admirable. Indiefair enjoys working with and coordinating projects with a network of highly-skilled independent artists. Indie fits us nicely. Fair has many meanings, two of which we like very much. Fair means equitable, free from bias or injustice, guided by principles of fairness. A Fair can also be a festival (fun) or a place where artists gather to display their work. In the context of our business, we like both of these. Our highest priority is to be worthy of the trust and confidence our clients and network of independents place in us. This is an essential part of making sure the experience of working with Indiefair is highly productive, a great value and fun.
